Turning Point: Sacramento right-hander Graham Godfrey struck out five of the first six Salt Lake batters he faced en route to a 7-1win for the River Cats.

Take a bow: River Cats outfielder Matt Carson brought in three of Sacramento’s seven runs Thursday night, with two coming from a home run in the second inning that bounced off the field house roof.

Who’s hot: Sacramento’s Godfrey struck out seven while allowing just two hits in six innings. The win was his fourth of the season. Godfrey is now 4-0 with a 2.43 ERA.

Who’s not: Sacramento has been unable to go two consecutive games without an error this season. Sacramento’s defense now has 33 errors this year. Entering Thursday they were tied with the second-most errors in the Pacific Coast League.

Worth noting: The River Cats are now 5-0 on Thursdays.

Scouting Report: Sacramento opens a four-game series with Colorado Springs today. The Sky Sox were hitting .316 as a team entering Thursday’s play. Sky Sox outfielder Charlie Blackmon had 17 extra-base hits, tied for second most in the league.
